Precarious Church: Politics

You may be thinking that it's a little late to start a conversation on politics. Not for the 20 people or so who gathered together this past weekent at Emmaus Way. We spent the evening talking about the relationship between our faith and politics. Is there something like an Anabaptist political vision?

I started the evening by telling a story about a German peasant at the beginning of the Reformation. The story put us into the milieu of early Anabaptism. From this context we bagan to to think through Anabaptist politics.

In our discussion groups we considered three aspects of political engagement: Politics starts at home, Economics is politics, and Cynicism and Hope. There wasn't nearly enough time to dicuss all the important issues. So I created an online forum for those of us who want to continue the conversation. If you weren't able to be there, please feel free to join our online discussion. The forum link below will also provide you with the documents that informed our discussions.
